How to choose heating and hot water for the home

How to choose heating and hot water for the home

Heating and hot water in the catalogue often looks like “all warmth on one shelf”. In reality there are at least three jobs: heat the room, heat water at the tap and bathroom comfort (towel rail). If you buy “something warm” without a job, you risk getting a boiler where you needed a radiator — or the other way round.

This guide is a map. Go deeper via the links. We skip prices here — type, size and connection matter more.

Three questions before the catalogue

  1. Do you need to heat the room, water at the tap, or both?
  2. Is the system central / local / electric?
  3. Is there space for a boiler, a radiator niche and service access?

If answers are fuzzy — photos of existing connections and the old label save a wrong order.

Examples in the range (as landmarks)

Boilers: Haier 10 L above sink, Haier A3 30, Haier A3 50 — capacity changes the job, not only “litres on the label”.

Circulation pumps: DAB Evosta 2, Wilo Atmos PICO 25/1-4 — for the heating circuit, not a garden JET.

Radiators: IMAS C22 500×500, Purmo C11 500×500 — type and output, not only mm.

Valves: Danfoss thermostatic set DN15.

Typical mistakes

  • Buying a radiator without a valves budget.
  • Mixing a circulation pump with a water-supply JET — when you need circulation.
  • Taking a 10 L boiler “for the family” or 100 L “for one sink” without a usage map — storage or instantaneous.

Short path

  1. Define the job (table above).
  2. Read the matching “how to choose”.
  3. Compare 2–3 cards; check the connection.
  4. Complete with valves / safety valve / trap as needed.

Heating · Haier · Purmo · DAB.

FAQ

Will one boiler “heat the house”?

No. A boiler heats water at the tap. For the room — radiator / underfloor system.

Where to start if everything must change?

From the job and existing connections, not from a “kit discount”. Start with this map, then go deeper.
