How to choose a water heater
A water heater (boiler) supplies hot water locally. Choice starts with capacity and mounting place, not Wi-Fi. Category: Water heaters. Comparison: storage or instantaneous. Parameters: power and capacity. Installation: how to install.
Capacity — landmarks
| Capacity | Typical use | Example |
|---|---|---|
| 10–15 L | One sink, office, guest WC | Haier 10 L above, 10 L under, 15 L above, 15 L under |
| 30–50 L | Small flat / thrifty shower | A3 30, A3 50, VH3W 30 Wi-Fi |
| 80–100 L | Family, several points | A3 80, A3 100 |
Above or under the sink
Above — often easier service access. Under — hidden in a cupboard, but you need space and safe mounting. The card states it clearly (e.g. SQM1 above / SQM2 under). Do not buy “under” if the cupboard has no room for the safety valve and service.
Instantaneous
No tank: Stiebel Eltron EIL 6 Plus. Fits if electricity and connection allow. Compare with storage: comparison.
Safety
Safety valve and correct electrics are not optional. See installation sequence. Pillar: heating map.
Typical mistakes
- 10 L “for the whole family”.
- Skipping the safety valve.
- Switching on a dry element — it burns.
- Expecting Wi-Fi to replace the right capacity.
Short path
- How many people / points / shower or sink only?
- Above or under — measure the space.
- Storage or instantaneous.
- Check electrics and safety kit.

FAQ
How many litres for a shower?
Depends on habit and power. 30–50 L often for a thrifty shower; 80–100 L — more comfortable for a family. Honestly assess how often two people shower back-to-back.
