DIN rail and board accessories: enclosure, rail, blanking strip and door
Once the protection scheme is clear, the remaining question is where the devices actually sit. A modular consumer unit, an empty metal box with a mounting plate and a loose DIN rail are not the same product. This guide helps you choose the enclosure, rail, blanking strip and door. Device ratings still belong in the board bill of materials — this page does not retarget “distribution boards price”.
Information, not a design. LBN 261-15 p.55: installation under a certified specialist. P.17: equipment must withstand site conditions. Conformity to LVS EN 61439 sits with whoever assembles the board (LEVA v1.1, 09.02.2026).
| What it is | Where it fits | What it is not | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
| Modular consumer unit | DIN devices in rows, indoor or IP65 outdoor distribution | Not an empty “box with a plate” | ABB UK636E3 flush, 36 SU, IP30, 622×384×97 mm; ABB UK612E2 12 SU, IP30; Gewiss Q-DIN 10 10 modules, IP65, IEC 16/32 A flanges |
| Empty metal box + plate | Terminals and small gear when you fit the rail yourself | Not a 36-module Volta | THORGEON 22043 IP66, 300×250×150 mm, 1.2 mm steel, 2.0 mm galvanised plate |
| Floor-standing field | Larger indoor gear with a declared IP | Not a 12-module flat board | ABB TL212G 1850×550×275 mm, 2 fields × 12 rows, IP55, class I earthed |
IEC/EN 60715 35 mm rail (TH35) is the standard profile. One module is about 17.5–18 mm. ETI DIN rail 1 m — length 1 m; TH35-7.5 vs TH35-15 is not split on this card — use the datasheet if the project needs a height. We do not publish drilling steps.
A 45 mm cut-out stays open if the row is short. Blanking covers unused modules. LBN 12.1 requires space for later work — spare modules stay, but they are covered. Hager VZ415 universal 12M, RAL 7035. Hager JP014 Gamma 13, 13M. Eaton NBP-1000-W 45 mm, 1 m, cut-to-length, RAL 9016. A 12M strip is not an 18M row — Hager VZ416 is 18M.
Hager VA36T — Volta surface 3-row steel door. Hager VF108PD Golf 8M. Doors are system parts. IP holds only with the maker’s cover and glands — IP and glands. Q-DIN IP65 is not Volta IP30. Marking: cable marking. Metering: DIN energy meters.
Check availability on the card. Distribution boards and DIN gear. Boxes: junction boxes. Protection: MCBs and RCDs.
