Time switches and staircase relays: mechanical, digital and astronomical
The relay and timer shelf mixes three jobs: staircase delay after a push-button, a daily/weekly programme, and sunrise/sunset (astronomical). An installation contactor (Z-SCH, iCT) is a fourth job — see the contactor article, not this page. LBN 261-15 does not name a timer model. Point 28.1 (3) is about 30 mA on household lighting circuits, not about Finder versus Hager on stairs.
| Job | Fits | Does not replace |
|---|---|---|
| Stair light after a button, then off | Staircase relay | A daily time switch |
| Shop window / heating / pump by the clock | Mechanical or digital day/week switch | A staircase relay |
| Outdoor light by sunrise/sunset | Astronomical timer | A photocell (none in this sample); a mechanical daily dial |
| Motor / large load | Timer driving a contactor | 16 A timer contacts “straight on the motor” |
Staircase: F&F AS-221T — 0.5–10 min, 230 V AC, 10 A AC-1, 1×NO. AC-1 10 A is not “any LED kilowatt”. Finder 14.01 — 8 functions, 1NO, 16 A, 230 V AC, 17.5 mm. Hager EMN001 — stair time-lag. Hager EMS005 — multifunction; take the function list from the datasheet.
Finder 12.11 — mechanical, 17.5 mm, 1CO, 16 A, 230 V AC, daily, power back-up on the card. Finder 12.51 — digital, 35 mm, 1CO, 16 A, 110–230 V UC, day/week. 17.5 mm versus 35 mm is rail width, not “power”.
Finder 12.81 — astronomical, 35 mm, 1CO, 16 A, 110–230 V UC. Legrand 412724 Rex — digital astronomical, 2 channels. Astronomy uses coordinates, not a photocell (no photocell SKU in this sample). Two Rex channels do not mean “stairs + shop window” without configuration. We do not write set-up steps.
Check the job, contact type and current (and AC category if stated), LED inrush, supply voltage, module width, and 30 mA on lighting — LBN 28.1 (3). Availability on the card. Relays and timers.
