Wall-hung or floor-standing WC — what to choose
This comparison helps you choose mounting type before falling for the design. Main guide: how to choose a WC.
Comparison table
| Wall-hung | Floor-standing | |
|---|---|---|
| What you need | Installation frame / cistern in the wall | Floor support + outlet |
| Cleaning | Easier floor under the pan | Classic zone around the foot |
| Renovation | Often new bathroom / major works | Faster 1:1 swap |
| Examples | Jika Mila, Ideal Standard i.life E | Jika Mila floor |
When to take wall-hung
If you already plan to open the wall, fit a frame and want a “clean” floor — wall-hung is logical. Budget the frame + plate + waterproofing, not only the pan.
When to take floor-standing
If you only replace the pan and there is no frame — a Mila floor type choice saves a project. Check outlet direction and distance.
What not to mix up
- A wall-hung pan cannot be “bolted” onto floor feet without a frame.
- Rimless is independent of “wall / floor” — both types can be rimless.
- Drainage must match — drainage.
FAQ
Is wall-hung “quieter”?
A cistern in the wall can be more comfortable, but mounting quality and insulation decide the result.
