How to store tools in a bag, a case and a box
Tools are stored where you can take them dry and unsorted from each other. Care chemicals are chosen from their own card, not from the “oils” department.
This guide is about tool bags and cases and about what must not be moved from car chemicals onto a drill. Workbenches and tool cabinets are not here, because the catalogue has no products there to recommend. A home starter kit is in the article what to put in a workshop kit.
Bag, backpack and box
- Stanley bag with 12 pockets — the pockets separate hand tools. An exact litre count is not invented for this card if it is not in the description.
- Stanley Fatmax backpack 28 L — 28 litres is in the name. It is for carrying, not a shelf replacement for the whole workshop.
- Stanley Fatmax tool box — a closed box. What fits inside is read from that card’s dimensions, not from the backpack’s 28 L.
- Knipex Modular X18 — the card name says the bag is empty. It is bought as an organiser, not as a tool kit.
A belt, if the tool stays on the belt
The Stanley tool belt card lists wear-resistant fabric, pockets of different sizes and a hammer holder. It says the tools shown in the picture are not included. A belt does not replace a case of 97 sockets: it holds what you need in your hand during the job.
The case that already comes with the set
The KS Tools 97-piece set and Scheppach TB235 already have their own case. A second bag is useful when you do not want to carry those cases every time, not because the case “is no good for storage”. A cordless bare tool, for example BC-CD50SC-X without a battery, is not stored mixed with a GEN1 pack: the cards say GEN2 and GEN1 are not compatible. A vice holds the workpiece, it does not store tools
KS Tools vice 130 mm and vice 150 mm are in vises. They clamp a part for work. They are not a shelf and not a bag. The size in the name (130 or 150 mm) is a jaw dimension, not “the width of the workshop”.
Oil and cleaner in the catalogue are for a different job
The oils and lubricants section is large, but the first cards are transmission oils, fork oil and industrial greases. For example, the Valvoline Multipurpose 2, 400 g description covers bearings, moderate load and a wet environment, with the references ISO 6743-9 and DIN 51502. It does not say “apply to a drill chuck”.
The Motip Contact Cleaner description covers oxidised electrical contacts: electronics, relays, sockets, car and motorcycle connections. It is not a general tool wash. Brake cleaners and engine cleaners in the same cleaners section are, on their cards, for vehicle systems.
If a tool card has no care step, this shop’s car chemicals do not replace it. The manufacturer’s note on the battery still stands: the charger and the pack are matched only as written on their cards, not from a grease description.
Where the numbers come from
28 L, an empty bag, the belt’s hammer holder, a 130 mm vice, GEN2 incompatibility and grease use on bearings come from product-card text. Where a card has no care instruction for the tool, one is not invented here.
