How to choose an extension lead: mm², outlets and a switch

How to choose an extension lead: mm², outlets and a switch

An extension lead is a temporary cable with outlets, not house wiring. This page is how to read 1.5 mm², outlet count and the switch. CEE on site: CEE. Wall 2P+E: wall socket. No live-work steps.

On the cardMeaningLimit
1.5 mm² / 3×1.5Conductor cross-sectionCited models are 1.5 mm² — take 2.5 mm² only if the card says so
1.5 m / 3 m / 5 mCable lengthLonger is not more current
3, 4, 6 outletsHow many loads at onceThe sum is still the cable and outlet rating
10 A splitterA short three-way, no long cableNot a 16 A lead

EMOS P0321R — Schuko, 3 outlets, 1.5 m, 1.5 mm². P1321R — 3 outlets, 1.5 m, 1.5 mm², earthed, with switch. The switch does not raise mm².

P1323R — 3 outlets, 3 m, 1.5 mm², switch. P0425R — 4 outlets, 5.0 m, 1.5 mm², earthed, no switch on this card. Five metres stays 1.5 mm².

PC1621R — 6 outlets, 1.5 m, earthed, switch, 3×1.5 mm², black. Six outlets tempt you to plug everything in; the rating stays the cable’s.

P00242 — Schuko 3-way, 250 V, max 10 A. 10 A is not 16 A. P0063 — double Schuko adapter with switch. P0003C — wall holder for a 3–4 outlet lead; it is not a cable.

How to use: add watts / 230, compare with A and mm² on the card; do not put it in the rain unless IP is on the card (these citations have no IP). Extension leads.

Sources: mm²/m/A from the cited cards (19.10.2026.).
