How to choose a wall socket and switch: 2P+E, frame and IP
In the shop “socket” often means four things: a flush 2P+E mechanism, a complete with frame, a portable rubber body and a dimmer. This page helps you read the card. CEE 16/32 A belongs in the power-socket guide. No live-work steps. LBN 261-15 p.55: a certified specialist supervises the work.
| On the card | What it means | Do not mix |
|---|---|---|
| 2P+E / Schuko | Two poles + earth, side contacts | French Standard with a pin — another geometry |
| 10 A or 10AX vs 16 A | Rated current; AX is a switch with fluorescent load | “Bigger number is always better” |
| One-way vs crossover | Single direction vs two-way/stair scheme | A dimmer is not a “smarter 16 A socket” |
| IP20 vs IP21 | Declared moisture for that enclosure | A 16 A rubber portable is not a flush IP20 |
Legrand 764629 Niloé Schuko — 2P+E, 16 A, 250 V, screw terminals, shuttered, ivory. Legrand 764627 is French Standard shuttered — not “almost Schuko”. FR and Schuko plugs are not interchangeable.
Legrand 764600 — Niloé one-way switch, 10 A, IP20, 75.8 mm, 1-gang, 250 V. Legrand 764501 — crossover, 10AX / 10 A, 250 V, IP20, white. 10AX is not a 16 A socket. Legrand 756316 Valena Life — 10AX crossover, black: same function in another series — frames stay with the series.
Schneider WDE006910 Renova dimmer — 370 W, LED rotary, white. A dimmer switches lighting watts on the card, not a 16 A outlet.
THORGEON 23002 — rewirable rubber socket, 16 A 250 V, max 3500 W. THORGEON 23004 — 4-way rubber adapter, 16 A 250 V, 3500 W, shutters and hook. They are not flush Niloé. Cross-section: extension-lead guide.
Before you buy: Schuko 2P+E or FR; one-way or crossover; indoor IP; flush vs rubber. Availability is on the card. Sockets and switches. CEE: power sockets.
