How to choose pliers: combination, side cutters and nippers
Pliers hold, bend or cut. A stripper does another job. This page is jaw type and length. Crimp and insulation: electrician tools. Screw heads: screwdriver.

| Long rounded jaws | Tight housings, bending | Side cutters “because they are long too” |
| Nippers / side | Cut wire at the edge | Cobra pump pliers for pipe |
| Insulation stripper | Strip as the card says | Combination “will do” |
