How to choose a tape measure: 3 m, 5 m, 8 m and blade width
A tape card has length in metres and blade width in mm. Class II on these cards is the accuracy class, not “a cheaper brand”. Horizontal: spirit level. A mark: marker.
| On the card | Read | Mistake |
|---|---|---|
| 2 m / 3 m / 5 m / 8 m | How far the blade runs | 2 m “enough for the room” |
| 13 / 16 / 19 / 25 mm | Blade width | 13 mm as stiff as 25 mm |
| Class 2 / II | Accuracy class on these cards | Mixing with 0.5 mm/m on a level |
| AUTOSTOP / PREMIUM | Auto brake, dual-side print | Thinking BASIC is not class II |
SPECIALIST+ TAPE 2 m, 13 mm — shortest in this set. BASIC 3 m, 16 mm — class II, three-rivet hook, nylon coat. BASIC 5 m, 25 mm — 5 m and 25 mm; not a 3 m × 16 mm with another sticker.
BASIC 8 m, 25 mm — 8 m, same 25 mm. KOMELON Eco 5 m × 19 mm — 5 m, 19 mm, class II. 19 mm is not 25 mm.
AUTOSTOP 3 m, 16 mm — auto stop, print on both sides. PREMIUM 3 m, 19 mm — dual-side print, 4-rivet hook, auto brake. TAPE 5 m, 25 mm — 5 m, 25 mm. PREMIUM 3 m is not BASIC 8 m. Tape measures.
