How to choose a spirit level: 40 cm, 200 cm and MAGNET
A spirit level shows horizontal and vertical. Length in cm and MAGNET vs LEVEL are what to read. Metres: tape. A line on the wall: marking.
| On the card | What you get | Mistake |
|---|---|---|
| 40 / 60 / 100 / 120 / 200 cm | How long a face you cover at once | 40 cm “enough for the whole job” |
| 0.5 mm/m | Accuracy on this LEVEL/MAGNET row | Mixing it with tape class II |
| MAGNET vs LEVEL | Series on the card; MAGNET when you need to stay on steel | 40 cm MAGNET = 200 cm LEVEL |
| Torpedo 23 cm, 0/90/45 | Short, for a case and a pipe | Replacing a 200 cm rail |
SPECIALIST+ LEVEL 40 cm — 0.5 mm/m, 650 g/m aluminium, 2 mm base. LEVEL 60 cm and LEVEL 100 cm — same row, other lengths. LEVEL 120 cm and LEVEL 200 cm — longer rail or a door reveal. 40 cm is not 200 cm.
SPECIALIST+ MAGNET 40 cm — MAGNET series, 0.5 mm/m. MAGNET 200 cm — MAGNET, 200 cm. Take MAGNET when the card says MAGNET and the work is on steel; LEVEL stays LEVEL.
Kapro Torpedo 9 — 23 cm, mechanical, 3 vials 0 / 90 / 45, magnetic V-pad for pipes. A torpedo is a case level, not a 2 m profile. Spirit levels.
